Why Construction Jobs?
There are a wealth of benefits to working in Construction.
- Like to move around? – Construction jobs can be found almost anywhere in the country. As long as you are qualified, you should have no trouble finding work wherever you are, for however long you are staying.
- Looking for a long-term career? – Construction is a varied and stable industry. From your entry into the sector, opportunities to progress are in abundance for a determined worker. Many workers stay in construction throughout their working lives, moving up the ladder to senior site management positions.
- Or maybe you are looking for something shorter-term – With entry-level positions often looking for immediate starts, and fixed contracts from 1 week up to 1 year, construction can be the ideal route to get work quickly.
- Hate the idea of a desk job? – With a construction job you will be on-the-go. While the work can be physically demanding, it is also rewarding – you will see the progress you make each day.
You will need a CSCS Card to work on most major construction sites. The card is nationally recognised and shows you have the qualifications and knowledge to work safely on-site. For most entry-level positions, you will need the CSCS Green Labourer Card. If you don’t have this yet, take a look at our Free CSCS Programme.
Signing up with a specialised Construction agency gives you access to roles not always advertised online. Often, employers need workers quickly and will ask agencies who they have on their books. If you are registered, you will be notified of these opportunities.
Make a good impression with any construction jobs you take on through your agency. The employers will feed back to the agency, and if you turn up on time and work hard, you’ll be more likely to be put forward for future jobs.
Whether you’re looking for short-term work or to build your career long-term, construction jobs offer flexibility and variety. Once you have your CSCS Card, you’ll be ready to start your job search!
